If you were to go back and look at my old secret diaries circa 1997, you would find, alongside awkward tales of growing up, detailed descriptions of one particular kind of item in my wardrobe that I simply could not get enough of: PLATFORM SHOES. I was nine years old, and completely, madly, head-over-heels obsessed with platforms. I would describe each pair lovingly, constantly count how many pairs I owned and dream of the day I could travel to London and buy higher, more outrageous platforms from the same places the Spice Girls did. 14 years later, my love has only gotten stronger.
